Leeds United eyeing move for Derby County midfielder Jason Knight

Leeds United are one of the clubs interested in snapping up Derby County midfielder Jason Knight, according to Football League World.

The 20-year-old is a prime contender to leave Pride Park as the Championship outfit could be left with no choice than to cash in on players in January after entering into administration.

Wolves, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Burnley and Newcastle are also keen on Knight as clubs are aware that bargains could potentially be available at the club in their struggle to get new owners.

Chance?

Marcelo Bielsa wanted a central midfielder badly in the summer, and while Leeds and the Argentine are not fans of the winter window, they should be all over a deal for the Derby sensation.

Dubbed “an energetic and all-action player” on the club’s official website, the youngster has established himself as a key player for Wayne Rooney, featuring in 13 league games so far this term and weighing in with two goals and two assists.

Elland Road need a midfielder that combines his ability on the ball with his desire and determination out of possession, and while Conor Gallagher could have been a perfect short-term solution, a bargain signing could be available in Knight.

Leeds snapped up Joe Gelhardt from Wigan Athletic last summer in similar circumstances, and another chance has presented itself.

The Rams academy graduate could be keen on joining the Whites ahead of other suitors having seen Bielsa turn Kalvin Phillips from a Championship player into an England international, and they need to swoop.

In other Leeds United news, a major update on Whites January bid to sign attacker has been provided, with pen-to-paper imminent.
