Leeds United earmark Takumi Minamino as Brenden Aaronson alternative in January - report

Leeds United have finally found an alternative to RB Salzburg star Brenden Aaronson, with Liverpool winger Takumi Minamino a target for January.

The Mirror have reported that Liverpool have already turned down an approach for the Japanese international.

Leeds are looking for attacking reinforcements at Elland Road with moves being made ahead of the January deadline on Monday.

Victor Orta looks to be in overdrive with the deadline quickly approaching after this weekend.

Given that yet another offer or approach has been turned down, it looks as though leaving it late has not worked.

Leeds are pushing for attacking reinforcements, with clubs not as open as they likely would be in the summer window.

Stubborn.

Leeds have not planned a huge dossier of players for this month, with this approach for Minamino coming out of nowhere.

Graham Smyth has shared that in midfield it is Aaronson or nothing, with this move for the Japanese international appearing to be separate.

Orta is desperately looking for reinforcements with no success, and Marcelo Bielsa’s demands are likely to make it an impossible task.

Is Minamino the type of player who could play behind the striker? We doubt that, and that is somewhere that Aaronson certainly could.

Minamino may have been earmarked as a potential alternative to Aaronson, but it just looks like a desperate move to bring anyone to Elland Road before the deadline with pressure building.
