Chelsea team news v Leeds United as Thiago Silva ruled out for Premier League clash
Chelsea have confirmed today (28 February) that star defender Thiago Silva will miss their Premier League clash against Leeds United on 4 March.
The veteran defender has suffered “knee ligament damage” and will likely be out of action for a lengthy period of time.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth relayed the news on his personal Twitter account and what will be seen as a huge boost for the Whites.
“Knee ligament damage for Thiago Silva,” said Smyth on Twitter. (28 February, 10:17 AM)
“Misses the Leeds game.”

Hard done by.
This will be a really tough pill to swallow for Chelsea heading into the clash with Leeds United they may have to now turn to their £75m summer signing Wesley Fofana now.
All jokes aside the classy centre-back’s absence will only help Leeds in this one, especially considering how badly Graham Potter’s side are currently struggling.
Three points at Stamford Bridge would be a lovely little treat for the Elland Road faithful and it’s massively doable after watching recent performances from the London club.
Tie this in with the new manager bounce under Javi Gracia and the Whites could be looking at the Premier League table with more of a smile come Saturday evening.
The Spaniard couldn’t have got off to a better start with a win against relegation rivals Southampton and hopefully, this victory will instil some confidence in the squad for upcoming fixtures.
First up though, is a juicy FA Cup clash against Fulham.
In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
