Leeds United director Victor Orta’s relationship with Juventus U23s chief Giovanni Manna pivotal to Weston McKennie transfer
Leeds United director of football Victor Orta and Juventus’ Under-23 sporting director Giovanni Manna reportedly share a good relationship.
According to Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio [28 January], their corroboration was key in getting the Weston McKennie deal over the line.
The 24-year-old United States international will be Leeds’ third signing of the month after Georginio Rutter and Max Wober.

Orta coming clutch
It’s been a good transfer window for Orta as he’s managed to sign three first-team players in January, something we did not think was possible in the Premier League.
All three arguably are upgrades on the current playing eleven and Rutter’s deal even shattered the club’s transfer record.
He’s managed to get the two without any real hassles and we’re expecting the same from the McKennie deal too.

Hopefully, all goes well with his medical and no other clubs come in and try a last-gasp hijack as that’s very much a possibility.
Orta and the Leeds recruitment team deserve credit for doing a good job and it’s now down to Jesse Marsch to deliver.
Results have not been ideal for the American and with these new signings, his side is strengthened in areas that it was slightly weak in and now they should be on course for a comfortable mid-table finish.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to be on the cusp of another January signing as a player’s agent jets into the United Kingdom to conduct final transfer talks.
