Leeds United deny making an offer for FC Barcelona striker Ferran Jutgla

Leeds United have reportedly denied making any offer for FC Barcelona’s 22-year-old striker Ferran Jutgla.

That’s according to Diario La Nacion journalist Claudio Mauri, who has rubbished previous reports of the Whites making any progress in their quest to sign the Spaniard.

Spanish media outlet El Nacional claimed that the Yorkshire giants were keen on signing the striker for an £8.3million fee.

Mauri wrote, via his personal Twitter account, “Since Leeds they deny an offer for Ferran Jutgla, centre-forward of Barcelona.”

Fabricated claims?

In the past, we’ve seen publications using Leeds’ name in their transfer links to gain traction.

It also could be that Barcelona are using El Nacional in a bid to drive up interest in the player.

From the looks of it, new manager Xavi does not seem to be a fan of the player and is keen on offloading him.

For a fee that’s in the region of £8million, Leeds need to be sure as to who they’re targeting.

Marcelo Bielsa and his scouting team do their due diligence in advance so it’s a surprise that this link came out of the blue from a source in Spain.

That said, the Whites must look to sign a striker as well as a central midfielder this month to assure themselves of playing in the Premier League next season.

In other Leeds United news, a football finance expert has issued a claim on Marcelo Bielsa’s sacking claim amid Andrea Radrizzani’s ties to the NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers.
