Leeds United delay in transfers down to financial issues

Leeds United have been unable to move swiftly in the transfer market this summer because of a “financial issue”, reports LUFC Fanzone.

There has also been no progress over the last month in the Whites’ pursuit of signing Club Brugge winger Noa Lang, having been linked with him over the course of the summer. [Nieuwsblad]

Thus far, Leeds have brought in just two first team players in backup goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson and left-back Junior Firpo.

While more signings appear to be in the offing, the Whites are suffering from bit of a cash crunch, per the well-informed Leeds United platform on Twitter.

LUFC Fanzone have been breaking a number of stories this summer, including Kiko Casilla joining Elche on loan.

They have been told by a source: “There has been no progression in the last month regarding Leeds.

“From what I understand, there is a financial issue from inside Leeds which is why they are moving slow in the market.”

Fuming

We’re not sure how much to read into this, but it could explain why we’ve taken so long to get players in this summer.

Last summer, we may have got the promotion windfall, but we looked canny in the transfer market and landed most of our desired targets and did it with finesse.

This time around, everything seems a bit dragged on and it appears like we’re playing the waiting game to see who blinks first so that clubs lower their valuations for players.

Lang, for example, has been linked with us since May and we’ve still not come any closer to getting that deal over the line.

Not that there are any reports there, but we’re sure Marcelo Bielsa must be fuming as the only position which has been strengthened from last season is left-back and we still need to sign a midfielder, winger and possibly a backup striker.

Time is running out on Victor Orta and he quickly needs to rope in some players or we’re likely to fall into the bottom half of the Premier League table.
