Leeds United table £11.5m bid for Jens-Lys Cajuste

Leeds United must look to sign Swedish midfielder Jens-Lys Cajuste to bolster their ranks this summer.

It is well documented that Marcelo Bielsa has been in the hunt for a central midfielder this summer and Pablo Hernandez’s departure has almost made it a priority signing this summer.

In the last week, the Whites tabled an offer worth £11.3million for Cajuste, 22, but his club FC Midtjylland turned it down. [Tipsbladet]

This is unlikely to dissuade Victor Orta as first bids are usually turned down as clubs tend to hold out for higher valuations, especially if there are others interested in a particular player.

Brentford are keen on his services and the report claims that they’re closing in on signing the Euro 2020 ace this summer.

However, should Orta come in with a bigger offer, he could very well be tempted to join the Whites over a club that’s going to battle relegation this coming season.

Exciting player

There is every reason for Leeds fans to be excited about links with the 22-year-old.

He is regarded as one of the next big things in Swedish football as their upcoming generation is filled with names set to take their games to the next level in Europe’s top five leagues.

Cajuste, who put in a stellar performance against Brondby in April, was labelled as “excellent” by Jacek Kulig, who is one of the best in the game when it comes to talent identification for the next generation.

As seen from the stats above, the 22-year-old is a midfielder who’s capable of doing everything on the pitch.

He’s primarily a deep-lying midfield player, but has a wide range of passes and isn’t one who’s content with keeping it neat and tidy as he often looks to play line-breaking passes.

Bielsa loves these kinds of players as they’re adventurous and he’s a manager who encourages his side to take more risks as it helps take them to the next level.

We’re hoping that Orta returns with a better offer and Bielsa gets involved in the deal as the 22-year-old will walk into our playing XI and would offer much-needed dynamism in the middle of the park.
