Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen may be axed from Denmark squad – Pundit
Morten Bruun claims that Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen could be axed from the Denmark squad amid his lack of game time.
Speaking to TV 2 Sport, the former Denmark defender said that head coach Kasper Hjulmand does not like to pick players that aren’t playing regularly for their clubs.
Kristensen looked like he had the right-back spot nailed at Leeds, but his below-average performances have seen Luke Ayling become the first choice once again.

Bruun said, “In the back positions, Kasper Hjulmand has in all probability had something to think about. Victor Kristiansen, who after his move to Leicester has knocked strongly for the national team, has been injured, and then Rasmus Nissen Kristensen has slipped out of the team in Leeds.
“There was a lot of faith in Rasmus Nissen Kristensen, but doubts have now arisen because Hjulmand would prefer not to select players who are definite reserves in their club team.”
Fair enough
Kristensen’s displays haven’t been great for Leeds and we’re not surprised that his spot in the national team is also in jeopardy.
We do not think he’s declined so to completely omit him from selection may be harsh, but he’s not at the level yet where he can be a regular Premier League starter.
That’s not to say he will not improve in the future, but currently, Ayling is deservedly keeping him out and if the Dane does not pull up his socks, Leeds will need a new right-back in the summer.

Cody Drameh’s also facing an uncertain future at the club and is not short on suitors so unless he’s not the first choice, he may leave as well.
Kristensen should use the international break to focus on what’s missing on his game and continue training hard at Thorp Arch if he’s omitted from the national squad.
The EUROs are still a while away and he will need to perform better if he is to be in consideration for that team next year.
In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
