Leeds United defender Liam Cooper suffered muscle issue due to overload and lack of game time – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Liam Cooper suffered another injury in his lower body due to his lack of game time this season for Leeds United, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert asserts that due to the overload of game time and training after an extended lay-off, his body has not been able to cope with the increasing demands.

Sam Allardyce himself confirmed that there’s a chance he misses the rest of the season as he has not guaranteed him returning before the end of May.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said on Cooper, “Never surprising to see a player pick up a muscular injury after an extended absence.

“You cannot replicate in-game demands without playing in games so there’s a risk of overload and injury when returning and that’s what has happened.

“As to the injury itself, hard to say what is going on because the information is very limited.”

The 31-year-old has suffered an injury-ravaged campaign and has struggled to be available for Jesse Marsch and Javi Gracia as well.

He’s made just 15 starts and the defence has had to be chopped and changed on numerous occasions due to injuries to other players as well.

His current deal at Elland Road runs out at the end of the 2024 campaign and it would be ten years since he moved to Leeds if he is there next season.

In other Leeds United news, Karen Carney has had her say on the Whites’ relegation as she’s issued a damning verdict on Sam Allardyce’s men after what she saw recently.
