Leeds United defender Junior Firpo medical claim shared by Doctor as transfer news emerges

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United defender Junior will only fail his medical if something significant occurs in the build-up to the checks, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has assessed the former Barcelona defender’s medical records and has noted a number of soft-tissue concerns for him.

Speaking to GiveMeSport (31 December), journalist Dean Jones claimed that there’s growing hope at Elland Road that the 27-year-old will be sold in January.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Firpo:

The buying team has to take his injury history into consideration, especially the soft tissue injuries, and that will likely be baked into his transfer price.

Unless there’s something significant going on, it’s unlikely he will fail a medical.

However, clubs may still air on the side of caution with this one.

The Dominican left-back has suffered multiple injuries this season as well and has thus seen his game time being affected.

He’s just made one league start this term while his other five appearances have all been off the bench.

Firpo has played a little over 200 minutes over all these games and it’s fair to assume that this could be his last season at the club.

In other Leeds United news, an international player linked with a move to Elland Road is unhappy at his current club and could be on his way out in the January transfer window.
