Leeds United defender Joe Rodon Tottenham transfer stance shared ahead of January

Leeds United defender Joe Rodon is unlikely to want to return to Tottenham Hotspur either in January or the summer, according to Alasdair Gold.

The Football London journalist said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast that Leeds may even fast-track his move to Elland Road.

The 26-year-old Wales international joined the Whites in the summer on a season-long loan.

Gold said: “I think for Joe Rodon, if I’m Joe Rodon I wouldn’t even want to go back to Spurs anyway. He’s been smashing it at Leeds and I’ve no doubt they want to keep him.

“I wouldn’t be shocked in January if they tried to set up a deal to sign him permanently whether that’s at the end of the season or something, he’s just been phenomenal for them.”

Get him

Rodon’s impressive stint at Leeds has not gone unnoticed and signing him in January could be a game-changing move for the club and for Daniel Farke.

The Welshman’s standout performances have made him a key player for Leeds, showcasing his defensive prowess and contributing significantly to the team’s success.

Under Farke’s tactical acumen, Rodon’s skills could be maximised, fitting seamlessly into Leeds’ style of play.

At Tottenham, the competition for playing time is intense, making regular appearances a challenge for Rodon, especially when all players are fit.

A permanent move to Leeds provides Rodon with the opportunity for consistent game time, essential for his development and maintaining top form.

The January transfer window offers Leeds a chance to secure Rodon’s services permanently, ensuring a reliable defensive anchor for the team’s ambitions.

Having him signed permanently also removes the ambiguity and he’ll thus give even more than usual to ensure the Whites get promoted as he’ll know where his future lies next season.
