Leeds United defender Cody Drameh to replace Southampton-bound James Bree at Luton Town

Leeds United defender Cody Drameh will reportedly be replacing James Bree at Luton Town as he’s moving to Southampton.

According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, the English defender is due on the south coast on 26 January to undergo his medical.

Drameh will be leaving Leeds on a loan until the end of the season with Luton expected to play him instead of Bree.

Via Twitter, Thomas wrote, “Drameh set to replace James Bree, who is due on the south coast today to undergo a medical with #Southampton and re-join former boss Nathan Jones.”

Works for all parties

Jesse Marsch has made it pretty clear that Drameh is his third choice right-back behind Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen.

The 21-year-old made it clear that he wants to be playing more senior football and that was not going to happen at Elland Road this season.

Even in the FA Cup replay, Marsch did not play Drameh and that was pretty clear of it being the end of his time at Leeds for this season.

Hopefully, he has a good loan spell and comes back next season with a realistic claim of playing first-team football.

Ayling is already a show of himself while Kristensen has not been convincing since moving to Elland Road in the summer.

But this move is one that works for all parties as Bree gets his Premier League switch while Drameh gets regular first-team minutes.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to be on the cusp of another January signing as a player’s agent jets into the United Kingdom to conduct final transfer talks.
