Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell reacts after season-ending surgery

Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell has confirmed that he’s undergone surgery and will now be resting until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old spent the entire campaign on loan at Millwall where he became a first-team regular, but will now play no further part due to his surgery.

He thanked everyone on Instagram on Monday afternoon, 17 April, for their concern as he will now focus on recovering and getting back in the best shape for the 2023/24 season.

Best wishes

Cresswell’s season on the field of play surely has gone better than most would’ve imagined and he proved why he’s ready for regular senior minutes.

While the Championship is certainly not at the level of the Premier League, it becomes evident which players are eventually destined for the top flight.

The 20-year-old showed that in a very short time at the club and Millwall too would’ve been devastated to lose him for the rest of the season.

The Lions are in fifth place and should be qualifying for the play-offs as they would want to make it to the Premier League.

Their job is now going to be harder now that their first-choice defender is not there and someone is going to have to step up and replace Cresswell.

Hopefully, he takes it easy and focuses on getting back to his best as there’s a good chance Leeds may consider him as an option for their matchday squad next term.
