Leeds United: Daniel Farke names ‘biggest asset’ at Elland Road in ‘special’ verdict

Daniel Farke named the Leeds United supporters as the clubs “biggest asset” and hailed the “special atmosphere” throughout the support.

The Whites are on a seven-game winning run in the Championship, form that has left them second in the table prior to making the lengthy trip to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (17 February).

Southampton do have a game in hand over Leeds in what is becoming an exciting race for promotion but Farke says it is the fanbase that is really driving the team forward this term.

Speaking at a news conference in quotes reported by LeedsLive (16 February), he said: “It’s a really special atmosphere. We have got great support. It’s second to none, not just in this league but in this country.

“I believe in this project and I believe in the long run this club can be in a much better position. I want to make our fantastic supporters happy.

“When the odds are against us, this club is at its best and also our supporters. We have a difficult away trip coming up with a difficult kick off time but they are singing louder and prouder. Their support is second to none and they are at their best when we need them the most. They are the biggest asset of this club.”

Leeds United supporters named ‘biggest asset’ by Daniel Farke

Being a Leeds supporter is not always easy, certainly it wasn’t last season as the club spiralled towards relegation from the Premier League.

It was even more difficult during a turbulent off-season that saw a plethora of talent depart Elland Road following the drop into the Championship.

But one thing that remains consistent is just how brilliant the Leeds fanbase is. And they are currently being rewarded for their loyalty with the team in absolutely fine form on the pitch and fighting for an automatic return to the Premier League.

There appears to be a really special affinity growing between Farke and the supporters and hopefully that bond can be entrenched in a few months time with promotion back to the Premier League.

It is really refreshing to hear a manager acknowledge such a brilliant fanbase and Farke is right when he talks about the fans being the club’s “biggest asset”.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared if the club are in talks over a new contract with Crysencio Summerville.
