Gary Lineker and Micah Richards have shared their verdict on Leeds United's chances of promotion to the Premier League after their 4-0 win over Swansea.

The Whites made it seven wins out of seven for 2024 with a dominant win in south Wales in midweek, moving into second place in the Championship table to aid their push for promotion.

And speaking on the Rest is Football podcast (16 February), former Manchester City man Richards wanted to give Daniel Farke and the Peacocks their credit for their form.

“I have got to give a little shout out to Leeds," he said. "4-0 at Swansea. Snuck into second, it’s looking good for the old Yorkshire lads."

Lineker then replied: “Perfect in 2024. They are really flying, Leeds.”

Leeds United have been outstanding

Leeds have got one of the better squads in the Championship, and most people expected the team to be pushing for promotion at the start of that season.

But there is a difference between the squad looking good on paper and actually performing well, and Daniel Farke deserves a host of credit for what he has done with the players at his disposal.

He has fixed the relatively poor away form from the first half of the season, and now Leeds are flying in the league with the other teams chasing their shadow.

Daniel Farke has set Leeds United on course to win promotion back to the Premier League this season.

Leicester are far and away in the race and it would take something really spectacular for them to not be promoted automatically now, and the Whites know that clubs like West Brom, Southampton and Ipswich will all be chasing them ferociously for the second spot.
