Leeds United could look to sign Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis
Leeds United could look to sign Emmanuel Dennis from relegation-threatened Watford this summer, per LeedsLive.
The report claims that while Ismaila Sarr is the Hornets’ most talented attacker, Dennis is a ‘better fit’ for Jesse Marsch’s methods.
While the Nigerian is a winger, Marsch’s system does not use classic wide players so the 24-year-old could be deployed as a striker.
It has been a horrendous season for Watford and they’re set to get relegated having secured promotion last summer.
Given the way their model functions, a number of first-team players are likely to leave.
The Championship rules also make it harder for players on Premier League wages to continue making the same kind of money per week in the second tier.
This could see Dennis on the move and Elland Road would be an ideal destination for him.
Leeds have struggled for a reliable striker to lead the line in Patrick Bamford’s absence this season.
The Whites are also better suited than Watford as they’ve proven that they can survive in the Premier League despite all the adversity.
Dan James has been tried there, but as many expected, he’s had a hard time playing as a nine.
Dennis has played that role for Watford and has managed to bag goals on a consistent basis.
In a better system, he will certainly thrive and the Whites should consider making a summer move for him.
He should not be on the expensive side as Watford will be compelled to sell him at a discount due to their relegation.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
