Leeds United could have 11 players missing v West Ham in Premier League clash

Leeds United could be missing up to 11 senior players for their Premier League clash against West Ham next week.

Already struggling with numerous problems, Diego Llorente is suspended and Junior Firpo was forced off in the FA Cup clash against the same opponents yesterday.

Beren Cross has reported that with Patrick Bamford also being ruled out, the Whites could now field an entire side from their unavailable players.

Writing in his latest piece for Leeds Live, Cross shared the stark reality potentially facing the Whites next week.

“Somehow, in the 48 hours between briefing and match, another injury has befallen the Whites,” he wrote.

“Much like Charlie Cresswell’s 11th-hour shoulder issue, Bamford has now contracted a hip problem and Bielsa has no interest in sugarcoating the matter.

“This is absolutely relentless and never-ending for Leeds United. Add in Diego Llorente’s suspension next weekend and the question mark around Junior Firpo’s dizziness, and you’re looking at 11 absentees.”

All eyes on Bamford.

Leeds can somewhat cover the other absences in their side as things stand, but the final third is now a real issue.

Bamford was set to return, but his new injury means he could join Tyler Roberts and Joe Gelhardt in the medical room yet again.

That leaves Dan James to play out of position, with the Welshman the only other option in terms of senior players available for that role.

All this does is once again bring the spotlight onto our transfer policy, and surely Victor Orta may be considering another forward, as well as a new midfielder.

In reality, there is probably more chance of no one arriving than two signings being made before the end of this month.

That is trouble, and this relentless injury situation is showing no signs of easing anytime soon – much to our frustration.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared if the Whites are in the ‘advanced’ stages of any January signings
