Leeds United close to agreeing new contract with Jack Harrison
Leeds United are close to agreeing a new contract with midfielder Jack Harrison after lengthy talks with the club, according to TEAMtalk.
The Whites have been in talks with the winger for a while about a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2024 and big interest expected to continue from Newcastle after their summer pursuit.
But while there has been some concerns about his status, it’s now been shared by journalist Graeme Bailey, speaking to TEAMtalk (8 December), that a renewal is firmly on Victor Orta’s agenda and there is “real confidence” that he will put pen to paper sooner rather than later.
“There are other contracts that need to be looked at before Rodrigo, with Jack Harrison an ongoing situation,” he said.
“Unlike Rodrigo, Harrison has strong interest elsewhere and the club rejected big money from Newcastle United in the summer stating their intent to keep him.
“And I understand a new deal is firmly on Victor Orta’s agenda. The good news is there is a real confidence that Harrison will put pen to paper sooner rather than later.”

Excellent news
There has been plenty of people who are happy to see Harrison sign a new contract at Elland Road considering his performances in the first four-and-a-half years at the club.
His performances this season started brilliantly but eased off and he lost his place in the side to Crysencio Summerville.
But his importance to the side is evident to anyone with eyes, with the team playing more intensely and with greater quality when he is in the side than when he isn’t.
There were some rumours that Newcastle could look to return in January to pounce on the fact his contract is entering the final 18 months, but Leeds clearly don’t want to lose him and have moved quickly to tie him down between windows.
Now that his future looks set to be confirmed at Elland Road, everyone can work on him getting back to his best form and back into the team to get Leeds back to their best too.
