Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch shares injury update on Junior Firpo
Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has provided an injury update on Junior Firpo following the left-back’s injury suffered against Aston Villa last night (March 10).
The Whites stumbled in the American’s first game in charge at Elland Road with a convincing 3-0 defeat to Steven Gerrard’s side.
The major talking point at the end of the game was the injury to the former Barcelona man as he was stretchered off the pitch with oxygen.
“We don’t know yet but it’s probably something on the inside of his knee like an MCL [medial collateral ligament] so we’ll evaluate that and see where’s he at,” Marsch as per talkSPORT.
“I would guess it keeps him out for a while.”
Bad to worse
Leeds could really do without any more injuries considering the position they find themselves in the league, especially to regular starters.
Marsch needs all hands-on deck if he has any chance of steadying the ship and rescuing the Whites from relegation which now seems an increasingly frightening possibility.
Hopefully the injury isn’t as bad as initially feared and the Dominican Republic international can make a strong and swift recovery but the nature in which he left the pitch suggests otherwise.
It was the perfect way to sum up a depressing night with seemingly everything going wrong. The Whites failed to reach the levels of the impressive display shown against Leicester in the new manager’s first game in charge.
It will take the players some time to adjust to the former RB Leipzig boss’ methods but the serious drop off is slightly worrying.
He has a huge job of turning this team around before the relegation nightmare becomes a reality.
