Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch makes telling Patrick Bamford admission

Jesse Marsch has admitted he needs to “figure out” how to use Leeds United talisman Patrick Bamford upon his return from injury, as per The Yorkshire Post.

The Englishman has been in and out of action since September following a foot injury and has only seen a mere half an hour ofPremier League action in the last three months.

The American was adamant the Whites will need their striker but was brutally honest in admitting he isn’t quite sure how, yet.

Marsch told The Yorkshire Post.: “We all know how important the game is. We have to be calculated.

“We’ll look at how he is and make an educated decision about what is best for him. He looked great this week, we could be optimistic but we also have to be intelligent.”

He added: “It wasn’t his best performance. I like him a lot, his character, the type of player he is. I’ve asked him to play more as a striker rather than a 10. He is a good young man.

“We will need him as we move forward. I have to figure out the best way to use him and how to fit him into the tactics that we’re doing.”

Instant impact needed

Along with Kalvin Phillips, Bamford has been the biggest miss of them all this season.

The 28-year-old scored 25 goals in the Premier League last season whilst featuring in every single game which highlights his extreme importance to this team.

There is no doubt Leeds wouldn’t be anywhere near as close as they currently are to the relegation zone if he had been fit all season but hopefully, he can make up for lost time upon his return.

Unfortunately, a lot of weight rests on the striker’s shoulders, everyone has long awaited Bamford’s return, even more so with how desperate the Whites are for a catalyst in their relegation dogfight.

Therefore, it is imperative he works hard to get back to his best as quickly as possible as he was very clearly off the pace against Aston Villa last time out.

Hopefully he and Marsch can hit the ground running because if things don’t change soon, Leeds face a real threat of going down.
