Leeds United boss Javi Gracia keeps door open to managing overseas

Leeds United manager Javi Gracia admits he’s open to managing in the Mexican league in the future in a recent interview.

The Spaniard took over the reins at Elland Road in February when he replaced Jesse Marsch who was sacked amid a lack of form.

However, he has joined on a flexible contract as his current priority is to keep the Whites in the Premier League.

Speaking to Mexican media outlet Publimetro [10 March], Gracia responded when asked about the possibility of going there, “Why not (direct in Mexico), in the future, you never know what can happen.”

Gracia keeping Leeds up is the bare minimum and he should not be given the job permanently if he ends up achieving that.

This side is good enough to be in the Premier League and has been underperforming tremendously under Jesse Marsch.

Leeds had plenty of other names in mind who they would’ve got had they been available but ended up going for Gracia so he wasn’t the priority at all.

However, if he overachieves and goes on a run where Leeds can actually finish in the top half of the table then it may be worth considering giving him the permanent job.

Should he want to go to Mexico or wherever, he’ll then be free to, but if the hierarchy decides to give him the job permanently there’s no way he turns that down.
