Leeds United boss Daniel Farke sends Thomas Tuchel new message after England announcement
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has congratulated Thomas Tuchel after he was named as the next England manager.
The FA confirmed on Wednesday (16 October) that the former Bayern Munich and Chelsea manager had agreed an 18-month deal to succeed Gareth Southgate as the England manager, starting in 2025.
Farke worked closely with Tuchel during the latter’s time at Borussia Dortmund and the Whites boss has suggested that the German is a “top-drawer” manager to take over from Southgate.
Speaking in his press conference on Wednesday (16 October) he said: “Congratulations to Thomas and congratulations to England because he’s a top solution.
“His CV speaks for itself, he’s a world-class coach. He’s coached Borussia Dortmund, was in charge of PSG, was in charge of Chelsea, and was in charge of Bayern Munich so lots of experience.
“He won the German title, he won the German cup. He won the French title, he won the French Cup. He was the only manager who led PSG to a Champions League final and he’s won the Champions League final with Chelsea so he’s a top-drawer solution.
“For that, I think it’s a really good solution.”
How does Leeds United manager Daniel Farke know Thomas Tuchel?
While Leeds United fans will be much more concerned about matters at Elland Road currently than what is happening on the international stage, Farke’s endorsement of Tuchel as a manager is excellent to hear.
The Whites boss has shown that you don’t have to be English to be a success whilst managing in the country. His Norwich team won multiple titles under his guidance and his Leeds team are looking to do the same this term.

For most supporters, they will just want to see their manager be successful, whether that is on the international or domestic stage. Hopefully, both Leeds and England now have a boss capable of doing exactly that.
It will of course take Tuchel time to win over all supporters, as it has done Farke at Elland Road, but if his team impresses on the pitch, it won’t take long for fans to come around.
He could get the majority of the Leeds support onside immediately if he were to hand Archie Gray a first senior call-up next year.
