Leeds United blown out of water in race to sign Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay – report

Leeds United have been blown out of the water in the race to sign Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay before Monday’s transfer deadline.

That’s according to the Scottish Daily Express, who report that the Italian side Bologna are ready to pay the most for the right-back sensation.

It is suggested that Aberdeen are braced for last-gasp bids, with Leeds having held talks over a move for Ramsay.

That would make it the third blow this week already.

Brenden Aaronson is proving tricky with RB Salzburg remaining stubborn on any deal that will now need to wait until the summer [Claudio Mauri].

The Mirror then reported that Liverpool had turned down an approach for Takumi Minamino, but the Whites are still trying with that one.

Adding salt into the wounds, it looks as though Bologna are ready to make it a triple blow for Victor Orta in the space of two weeks.

Here we go, again.

Dealing in January is never easy, but when you leave until the final weekend of the window, it makes it even harder.

Ramsay is one of the brightest talents in the Scottish Premiership given the recent exit of Nathan Patterson, so any deal won’t be easy.

The right-back would come straight into the first-team squad at Elland Road if a deal could be sorted, with options desperately needed.

Cody Drameh asked to leave on loan to join Cardiff, leaving Luke Ayling as the only right-back option at the club at this moment.

With injuries already hitting him this season, it would be no surprise to see it happen again, and cover would be needed.

Let’s hope something can be resolved very quickly.
