Leeds United believe they can seal transfer of Atletico Madrid striker Matheus Cunha
Leeds United “tightens the fence” on signing Atletico Madrid ace Matheus Cunha in January, according to a report by Goal [19 December].
They believe that they can convince the 23-year-old to move to Elland Road in the summer based on their sporting project.
For the Whites to successfully sign him, they will have to beat Arsenal, Wolves and Aston Villa who are all in the race to sign him.
Tough one
Leeds know that it’s going to be hard to beat three Premier League clubs to the services of the highly-rated Brazil striker.
Cunha’s stock is at an all-time high and the demand for his services is unlikely to reduce in the coming weeks.
With Gabriel Jesus out for a few months, Arsenal will certainly do everything they can to sign a new striker and it seems like Cunha is the one they want.
They could tell the Brazilian to come and join them and help them win the Premier League title – a really hard proposition to turn down.
Aston Villa are likely to back Unai Emery with a lot of money in January so we’re expecting a big splash of money and Cunha could go to Villa Park too, if he’s offered decent wages.
Leeds have been in talks and it looks like they’re tightening the fence, but there still is work that’s left to be done in this deal.
In other Leeds United news, an attacker linked with a move to Elland Road claims that he could leave his Champions League club in the January transfer window.
