Leeds United attacker Mateo Joseph over the moon after scoring twice on full England under-20s debut

Leeds United attacker Mateo Joseph is thrilled by the fact that he scored a brace on his full debut for the England under-20s.

With a number of the Whites players out on international duty, the 19-year-old certainly was the one to make headlines as he impressed on his first start for the under-20s.

He scored two goals in a 4-2 win against the United States on Saturday, 25 March.

Joseph then took to Twitter to write, “Amazing feeling to score my first goals with England. Let’s keep working hard and improving team.”

Positive start

There’s no denying that Joseph is one of the brightest young talents at Thorp Arch and he’s only been getting better year after year.

He’s scoring for the under-20s and has already made multiple appearances for the Leeds senior side so things are heading in the right direction for him.

Signing him from Espanyol in the summer has proven to be good business and it remains to be seen how Leeds tend to his development.

Players at his age are usually sent out on loan just before they take the final step before becoming regulars on the matchday squads.

He’s certainly got all the attributes to be a part of Leeds’ future and it’s all down to how he improves in comparison to others his age.

Joe Gelhardt and Sonny Perkins are definitely right there fighting for that next big breakthrough and it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top.

In other Leeds United, the Whites are now in pole position to seal their first signing under Javi Gracia despite interest from a Premier League rival.
