Leeds United are still interested in signing Dan James
Leeds United still hold an interest in signing Dan James from Manchester United, according to Beren Cross.
The Leeds Live reporter was speaking in a live Q&A and revealed that with the Whites wanting to sign a winger James’ “name would be in the conversation”. However, he isn’t “sure” if the Whites will make a move for him in this transfer window because the Red Devils “would want to make a profit” on the Welshman, who they signed for £15million two years ago [BBC Sport].
James nearly joined Leeds in January 2019 from Swansea City only to see the deal collapse at the last minute. He then moved to Old Trafford that summer but has been constantly linked with a move to Elland Road.
Will Leeds sign Dan James?
The Whites are very keen on James and he could provide more competition for the likes of Jack Harrison and Raphinha [The Phil Hay Show].
James is well down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and now that Jadon Sancho is set to be confirmed, he will probably slip even further down the pecking order.
The 23-year-old has also been described as “different class” by Ally McCoist and could be a good addition to this Leeds side [talkSPORT].
However, given that Manchester United paid an initial £15m to Swansea for him and that Cross thinks the Red Devils will be looking to make a profit on him, you would think any deal for James could be expensive.
So we will have to see what happens, but if the Whites could negotiate a deal for the Welsh winger, he could be exactly what Leeds need and also what he needs to get his career going again.
The question is, though, can Leeds put together a bid that would convince Manchester United to sell?
