Leeds United and Victor Orta big fans of Adama Traore as contract saga leads to transfer hunt

Leeds United and Victor Orta are still big fans of Wolves winger Adama Traore as he prepares to enter the final six months of his contract, according to 90min.

The online source has reported on its website that Premier League rivals Spurs are hot on the tail of the Spaniard, but don’t want to pay a big fee in January when he could be available for free later down the line.

Unfortunately for Leeds and Spurs, foreign teams can start talks and sign Traore on a pre-contract in January, something they cannot do given he is in England.

There are many clubs lining up to take advantage in Europe too.

Italian duo Napoli and Inter Milan are said to be in the hunt as this race could be taken out of Leeds’ hands before it has even begun realistically next month.

Traore could even be offered a route back to Spain with Atletico Madrid after his spell at Barcelona on loan back in the 2021-22 season which didn’t go too well.

Saga.

This is one of those stories and links which fails to ever disappear.

Leeds have already been linked to every man and his dog ahead of January, and that will only continue across the next four weeks, especially as the World Cup continues.

Traore is a bigger, stronger Dan James, so unless the Welshman was sold to recover some of the money wasted on him before his loan move to Fulham, there is no room in this squad.

Orta has surely learned his lesson from going for these types of transfers, and only if it was free would it become somewhat acceptable at Elland Road.

Leeds are desperate for a new striker and a new left-back so if they come in before Traore, he could become a possibility, but Orta must have his eyes elsewhere.

The Whites can allow the likes of Napoli, Spurs and Inter to get into their own war, then we can go from there.
