Leeds United and Hamburg must strike loan deal today for Summerville

Leeds United and 2.Bundesliga side Hamburg have until the end of today (30 January) to strike a deal for Crysencio Summerville to leave on loan, according to 24Hamburg.

Negotiations have been ongoing for some time between the two clubs with Marcelo Bielsa remaining stubborn in his desire to keep the Dutchman at Elland Road.

Hamburg though have kept pushing for a deal but their patience is wearing thin and they could turn their attentions elsewhere if they can’t agree a deal today.

24Hamburg reported that “in Hamburg, they didn’t want to wait until the last second on Monday to wrap up a transfer. If Crysencio Summerville’s move doesn’t come about this Sunday, HSV will probably strike at an alternative.”

Let him go

Leeds United are gaining nothing by keeping the 20-year-old at the club, only to be an occasional sub and Under-23 player.

While the injuries suffered by Bielsa’s squad this season has meant he has featured more than he would have thought, he still isn’t getting regular enough game time.

Hamburg offers a wonderful opportunity for Summerville to experience a brand new league and footballing philosophy that he wouldn’t get if he stayed in Yorkshire.

He isn’t a crucial part of the team but he could become that if he gets the loan opportunities required.

Bielsa has always been a stubborn manager who is very set in his ways and when he gets an idea in his head, it takes an awful lot to move it so Summerville’s chances are looking slim.

For the good of the player right now, and the club down the line, Bielsa needs to swallow his pride and accept the next bid that Hamburg come in with because Summerville needs regular football, badly.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have reportedly made a last-ditch offer for this superstar midfielder.
