Leeds United advertise for academy staff as Jesse Marsch continues backroom reshuffle

Leeds United are having a very tough season in the Premier League and they could be seen as favourites for the drop with two games to go.

Jesse Marsch has come in to replace Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road but the majority of the Argentine’s backroom staff are still in place at Thorp Arch.

The 48-year-old American though is ready to change that and the club are now advertising for a new Senior Academy Physical Development Coach and an Academy Professional Development Phase Physiotherapist.

Marsch appears to be starting his revolution of the coaching and medical staff at Thorp Arch in the academy before presumably turning his attention to the senior setup.

Wrong-way around

It’s fantastic to see our new manager take as much of an interest and care in the academy as Bielsa did during his time in Yorkshire and hopefully it keeps ongoing.

But in the mess that the senior team are in right now, the academy staff need to be the last of his concerns because it is starting to take his eye away from the relegation fight.

He is perhaps guilty of complacency after a good few games in March and April looked to have got the Whites far enough ahead of the struggling Everton and Burnley but both of those have bounced back late on and now it’s us who need to find something else to get out of trouble.

We’re on the back foot though because both the Toffees and the Clarets have a game in hand on Leeds and if they pick up three points, it could send us down before the final day.

Our games with Brighton and Brentford might be the most important in our recent history and we need Marsch to be fully focused on that without one eye on hiring staff.

In other Leeds United news, Marcelo Bielsa is still reflecting on his exit from Elland Road having rejected offers to return to management.
