Leeds United sacking hangs over Marcelo Bielsa, he still thinks about it

Marcelo Bielsa was sacked as Leeds United manager at the end of February after a shocking run of results including 20 goals conceded

The Argentine, who had led the Whites to promotion as champions from the Championship before spearheading a top-half finish in the Premier League, moved back to his homeland in South America after he was dismissed.

According to La Tercera, the 66-year-old is “still in reflection,” of his sacking at Elland Road which might have played a large part in why he rejected the chance to manage Chivas de Guadalajara in Mexico.

The Chilean national team are also trying to make moves to bring the former Leeds manager into their own dugout after they failed to qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Memories

It isn’t just Bielsa who is still reminiscing about those wonderful times in Yorkshire and we’ll keep on remembering that promotion and first season back in the big time for a very long time.

The excitement and passion that ‘El Loco’ was able to generate around Elland Road has been unmatched by Jesse Marsch so far and very few who came before him were able to match it either.

The love Bielsa had for the entire city of Leeds, not just the football club, was tear-jerking and everyone in the city repaid that love straight back to him at every given opportunity.

The outpouring of support after he was given his P45 by the club was simply unheard of despite us all knowing that his time had probably come by then.

We’ll never forget what he did for us, including the hours spent with junior sides too, and it seems like he’ll never forget us either. A love story like no other.

In other Leeds United news, a key Thorp Arch change is coming after the club advertised for a new job position on Friday (13 May).
