Leeds United admire former coach Carlos Corberan to take over from Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds United are reportedly keeping an eye on Huddersfield Town manager Carlos Corberan if they are to replace Marcelo Bielsa at the end of the season.

According to Phil Hay on the Athletic, the Spanish manager, who worked as part of Bielsa’s coaching staff in the year they secured promotion, has impressed many in the Leeds hierarchy.

However, the 38-year-old is yet to be proven in an elite league and they could look at other options as well.

Needs some time

Corberan is surely proving his critics wrong at Huddersfield Town and is taking steps in the right direction.

Having worked under Bielsa, he knows what the Argentine demands and would be familiar with a few players and coaches at Elland Road.

The club have decided that they want to continue to appoint managers that stick to Bielsa’s basic principles.

Who knows his methods better than someone who’s worked with him day in and day out?

However, Corberan is still relatively young in his managerial career and needs to get some more experience before he should be considered for the job.

The likes of Ernesto Valverde have been mentioned and he knows what it is to take charge in the big leagues and he could be a fit in terms of stature.

However, his style of football was dross at Barcelona and it remains to be seen whether he will realistically be considered for the job.
