Leeds United ace Patrick Bamford to return this season – Jesse Marsch

Jesse Marsch believes that Leeds United star man Patrick Bamford could be available for the last two games of the season, according to Sky Sports.

The England international was forced off the field yet again this season after he ruptured his foot at Molineux in the Whites’ 3-2 win.

The American spoke highly of the strikers’ character despite a tough season continuously battling injuries.

Marsch told Sky Sports: “Patrick is an energetic, positive person and I think that’s part of the disappointment – that he was so committed to getting himself playing again and helping the team that when he felt it wasn’t right, it was really difficult for him to handle it.

“But almost the next day [after his six-week diagnosis], he was already positive again and thinking about what we can do to still find a way to get him back healthy and how he can contribute in the season.

“Obviously, he wants to give himself a chance to compete for a spot in the [England] World Cup team. In every way, we want to help him get him back to being at 100 per cent and we believe we can now.

“The six weeks mean I think he can be available for the last two matches. We will have to wait and see how everything goes. He already says he’s walking better, feeling better, pain-free, which he wasn’t for the past four to six months. We’re optimistic and hopeful.”

Silver lining

This season would have really tested Bamford. Being a footballer is a very difficult job and it is made even harder when they are not able to play.

With that being said, it doesn’t seem to have broken the 28-year-old’s character despite his teary display after being forced off against Wolves.

He would have been desperate to help the team out all season long and as hard as it is to believe, his spell on the sidelines does come with a silver lining.

He will be able to use this pain and suffering to spur him on next season and hopefully lift Leeds to greater heights.

His absence has been hugely missed this season, maybe more so than any other Leeds player alongside Kalvin Phillips.

The pair will be eager to get back on the pitch and play for Leeds, especially with the World Cup around the corner as Marsch mentioned.
