Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips poised to pen new deal

Leeds United have reportedly been handed a contract boost as Kalvin Phillips is set to commit his future to the club.

According to The Daily Star, the England international is ‘poised’ to pen a new deal at Elland Road.

This will fend off interest from his suitors, one of whom are arch rivals Manchester United.

However, it’s understood that he will turn down any approaches made by the Old Trafford based club, given the rivalry shared between the two sides.

As expected

The Whites have been in talks with Phillips for a while, but things now appear to be progressing as they would have wanted.

Phillips is undoubtedly one of their prized assets and their best player who will be wanted by Europe’s top clubs.

While there’s a good chance that he leaves at some point in the future, a new deal would be a great financial move by Leeds.

This would ensure that they demand a huge transfer fee in order to let go of his services.

Alternatively, Phillips could ask for a release clause to be included in his new deal which gives him the option to leave if a club triggers it.

However, even this amount is likely to be more than what Leeds would get from his sale now, so it’s a move that would benefit all parties equally.

We’re just hoping for the official club announcement in the due course as there will be nerves until the deal gets over the line.
