Resurgence?

Firpo has become a key cog for Javi Gracia since the Spaniards’ arrival at Elland Road and grabbed the winner in a 1-0 win over Southampton on 25 February.

The full-back is still eligible to play for the Caribbean nation and it looks like he may choose to switch allegiance for the chance to play on the international stage.

The former Barcelona star has obviously been shown the nation’s new footballing project and it looks like they are keen to get him onboard as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, Firpo still has a long way to convince the Elland Road faithful that he can be the man to fill their left-back void in the coming years.

He’s made a bright start under Gracia, however, it’s hard to forget his non-existent debut season and poor cameos along the way which made Whites question his relevance to the team.

To be fair, Firpo was never given a fair shot under Jesse Marsch to prove he can start at left-back for Leeds United maybe a run of games under Gracia is the remedy needed for him to thrive.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
