Leeds Super Fans react to Weston McKennie transfer link

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Leeds Insider Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road…

According to reports from The Sun, Leeds United are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

It was reported that the 23-year-old midfielder wants to stay in Turin and fight for his place, despite the fact that he has struggled for regular games.

The USA international is available for around £20million, and Alan Nixon of The Sun notes that it is within Leeds’ budget.

We asked our esteemed panel of MOT Super Fans this week whether they would love to have McKennie in January, and the majority of them feel that he would be a quality addition.

Here’s how they reacted:

Solid addition

Signing a midfielder in the January window is absolutely vital for Leeds.

The Whites are missing their talisman midfielder Kalvin Phillips and they are lacking in depth in that region.

Leeds are struggling badly in the Premier League, and Marcelo Bielsa may look to sign a few players to bolster his squad.

The Argentine has said previously (17 December) that he is not against signing new players, but he won’t do it just for the sake of it.

At the same time, he is also aware that the club have already spent a lot in the transfer market, and he is unsure about the funds available.

McKennie would be a class signing for the Whites. He can play in multiple positions and can also play as a right-back.

The big obstacle for Leeds will be to persuade him to make a move to the Premier League.
