Leeds summer target Fabio Carvalho could leave Fulham in January

Leeds United will be on red alert after reports emerged that Fabio Carvalho could leave Fulham in Janaury.

According to reports from The Sun, Carvalho looks set to depart Craven Cottage after he turned down a “massive” contract offer from Fulham.

The 19-year-old has a contract at the club till the end of the season, but he could be sold in the January window.

Carvalho is seen as the latest jewel to have come out of Fulham’s academy. The club have made several attempts to tie him down on a new contract but their efforts have gone in vain.

After their latest contract offer was rejected, the West Londoners have taken the decision to not present him with any more offers. The Cottagers are now looking to cash in on him in January, and it could be of interest to Leeds.

Summer target

Back in August, during the summer transfer window, the Daily Mail reported that Leeds were interested in signing the attacking sensation.

Carvalho was born in Portugal but he moved to England at an early age. The youngster then rose through the ranks at the London club’s academy, and he has been very impressive.

He scored three goals in August, but then missed the past two months with a foot injury. He returned to action during Fulham’s 3-0 win over West Brom last week.

Carvalho is primarily a centre attacking midfielder who plays just behind the striker. He is a creative playmaker with an eye for goal and would be a smart addition for the Whites.

He is available on a bargain deal and it would be wise to reignite the interest in him, although Marcelo Bielsa is not a big fan of signing players mid-way through the season.

Furthermore, Leeds bolstered their attacking department this summer with the signing of Daniel James. They need to invest elsewhere.

Having said that, there’s always room for quality players in the team, and Carvalho has the potential to be a top-class player in the future.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been told to sign this £40million-rated midfielder.
