Leeds star Raphinha posts worrying Instagram story after Sporting Lisbon success
Leeds United winger Raphinha has claimed he wishes he had never left Sporting Lisbon when congratulating his former side on winning silverware.
The Elland Road superstar moved from Portugal back in 2019, joining French club Rennes where he would only remain for a couple of seasons.
Raphinha has been one of the best signings in the Whites’ recent history, being involved in 13 goals in his 27 Premier League appearances.
Writing on his personal Instagram account overnight, Raphinha shared the worrying words when celebrating one of his former side’s success.
“Congratulations,” he wrote.
“In the place where I should never have left.”
It has been widely documented that the Brazilian didn’t have the best of relationships with Rennes, his former club in France.
After being sold to Leeds for less than £20million in October, Raphinha admitted that he felt undervalued after being handed a huge valuation on his head previously.
It seemed fair, after all, he had just helped them to qualification for the Champions League, something he later missed out on with this move.
Raphinha couldn’t be happier to be at Leeds and working under Marcelo Bielsa, you just have to look at his interactions with teammates after every single game online.
There has always been a huge feeling that Rennes let the Brazilian leave far too easily and for far too cheap this season, not that there are any huge complaints from our side.
We clearly saved Raphinha from that and have unleashed a different animal in the Premier League, who will be vital to our own silverware hopes in years to come; bring it on.
