Leeds United star Mateusz Klich has aimed a dig at Harry Kane after the Tottenham forward claimed that the season should be cancelled.
As quoted by Gulf News, England captain Kane has said that if football is unable to resume by the end of June then the currently-suspended 2019/20 season should be declared as null and void.
Tottenham’s season has been pretty much a write-off.
Mauricio Pochettino was sacked despite leading them to the Champions League final last season and Jose Mourinho has not exactly offered much improvement.
Many of Spurs’ players have been struggling with injuries or to hit the form that everyone knows they’re capable of and it seems likely they’ll fail to qualify for the Champions League this season if it does, in fact, continue.
Leeds midfielder Klich, 29, has made no secret that he wants to see the season finish and hasn’t taken too kindly to what Kane has said.
“I hope we’re going to end the season. I don’t know who wants to finish the season more, us or Liverpool,” Klich told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“I saw Harry Kane said the season should be cancelled but I know why he wants that.”
A lot of people seem to have their own agenda when it comes to discussing what to do with the incomplete 2019/20 season.
While Klich is saying that he wants the season to be finished with Leeds nine matches away from a likely promotion to the Premier League, no one can argue that playing the remaining fixtures is the fairest outcome.
When you hear about those wanting the season made null and void it is usually people with connections to clubs who’ve had poor seasons.
Kane at Tottenham, Karren Brady at West Ham, Jesus Garcia Pitarch at Aston Villa and just about anyone who doesn’t like Liverpool and Leeds.
