Leeds race for Benny Couto hotting up, Oldham reject bid from unnamed club - report

The race to sign Oldham Athletic sensation Benny Couto is hotting up now, with Leeds United well and truly in the mix.

It has now been reported by the Oldham Times that an unnamed Premier League club have seen an offer rejected for the left-back.

More offers are said to be coming in the imminent future, with clubs from England, Spain, and Portugal all watching.

It is said that a deal of up to £1million could be enough to seal the deal for Couto before the end of the January window.

Oldham are wanting to seal a move that will allow the full-back to return to Boundary Park on loan until the end of the season.

That is said to not please all of the interested clubs, and Leeds may well be one of those given their situation at Elland Road.

Junior Firpo is the only out-and-out left-back from the first-team squad to the academy as things stand, with Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski leaving in the past year.

Lethal.

Couto has many weapons to his game including a long throw, something which has been described as “Lethal” in the past [Daily Advent].

This would be the perfect signing for the under-23s, and could even complete Mark Jackson’s squad as things stand.

It isn’t confirmed whether or not it was Leeds who made the offer, but it looks to be between them and Wolves at this moment in time.

Victor Orta is consistently looking to prize gems away from their clubs to join Leeds, and Couto looks as though he could be the next in a very long line.
