Leeds monitoring situation as Newcastle set to tie down Joe White - Craig Hope
Leeds United are closely monitoring the situation of Newcastle sensation Joe White ahead of the January transfer deadline.
The Daily Mail journalist has reported that the Magpies are set to secure his future, but many clubs are still watching closely.
White is out of contract in the summer as things stand, but looks set to stay at St James’ Park after news broke on Thursday.
Writing on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon, Hope shared the latest with a deal close for the Magpies.
“Newcastle set to secure future of Joe White after agreeing terms on new deal,” he wrote.
“19-year-old is out of contract this summer with Celtic, Rangers, Leeds & Chelsea all monitoring situation.”
It looks as though this is another potential January arrival slipping away from the Whites as we enter the critical zone.
Brenden Aaronson also looks likely to remain at RB Salzburg, with arrivals looking near impossible before Monday evening.
White is deemed as one of the brightest talents in the country and would have been a brilliant addition to our under-23s at Thorp Arch.
Instead, it looks as though the new investment at St James’ Park has managed to twist his arm and get an agreement on a new deal.
Victor Orta has not had much luck with new deals this month, and it looks as though Mateo Joseph Fernandez will be the only new arrival at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are set to table a sneaky £22million bid to secure major new January signing
