Leeds monitor Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui, can agree free move in January

Leeds United are closely watching Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui ahead of the upcoming January window, according to Mark Ogden.

The ESPN reporter has shared this week that the Moroccan flyer can negotiate a free move in January with his contract expiring in the summer.

Arsenal are also said to be interested with a move set to gather pace in the next couple of months for the right-back.

Writing in his latest transfer blog for ESPN, Ogden shared the major update ahead of the January window at Elland Road.

“Arsenal and Leeds United are both monitoring Mazraoui’s situation at Ajax, with the Morocco right-back able to negotiate a move to a non-Dutch club in January,” he wrote.

Get it done.

Wow – what a move this would be.

Mazraoui has had an incredible few years over in Holland and has shined in the Champions League as well as the Eredivise.

The Moroccan has already scored four goals and delivered two assists in his 11 league appearances, and loves to bomb forward when he can – being described as “insane“.

If there is one thing this season has proved, it is that the likes of Luke Ayling are no longer as reliable as they once were.

The experienced right-back required surgery after the draw at Newcastle, and although he is nearing a return, making that switch next summer could be critical.

Mazraoui is the perfect choice, he loves to get forward just as Marcelo Bielsa demands, but he also gets stuck in when needed – completing over two tackles per game [WhoScored].

Given that he could come on a bargain with his contract expiring, expect Victor Orta to start making his moves ahead of January, that could be critical.
