Leeds have recently shown interest in 116-cap centre-forward - Sky Sports journalist
Leeds United have “recently sought” after Paris Saint-Germain centre-forward Edinson Cavani, according to Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian reporter has claimed via his personal website that Cavani, 32, could soon be on his way out of PSG with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
It is understood, bizarrely, that Leeds are one of the teams that have shown a recent interest in the 116-times capped Uruguay international.
LA Galaxy are also said to have eyed up the former Palermo and Napoli striker but it seems as though Atletico Madrid are winning the race for his signature next summer at this stage.
Cavani is open to be approached ahead of a potential pre-contract deal in January, so there could be some movement in regards to his future in the coming weeks.
However, Leeds fans should not be expecting him to head to Elland Road any time soon.
Yes, there has been a lot of speculation regarding QSI and a potential takeover at the Yorkshire club and yes, promotion to the Premier League is bound to see the club spend a lot more money.
But seriously, would Cavani want to join a newly-promoted Premier League club when Atletico Madrid are out for him?
Leeds are a massive club but until they’re established back in the top-flight, world-class players like Cavani are going to be out of their reach.
