Leeds fixtures against Chelsea and City are ‘absolutely brutal’ – David Prutton

David Prutton has been left fearful over the “absolutely brutal” fixtures facing Leeds United this week in the Premier League.

The Whites travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea today (11th December) before making the small trip to Manchester City on Tuesday (14th December).

Prutton, a Sky pundit regular, insisted that it was always going to be hard after promotion, but this is now two horror run of fixtures in consecutive seasons.

Writing in his Yorkshire Evening Post column this morning (11th December), Prutton pulled no strings on what to expect.

“Leeds have Chelsea and City away from home in the space of four days and that is absolutely brutal,” he wrote. “But there’s no way around it and no way of being able to miss any of that out.

“Things are going to be terrifically hard for them but returning to the Premier League was never going to be straightforward.”

Leeds United

Horror.

Looking at the fixture list at the start of this season, this is the one run that will have caught everyone’s attention immediately.

What wasn’t expected was the poor start to the season with only three wins under our belt and once again, numerous injury problems.

The squad couldn’t really look much worst right now with Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo all nursing injuries.

Prutton is right though, this is absolutely brutal.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool in consecutive fixtures is awful and given we are only six points above the relegation zone, it looks increasingly likely we may need at least one win in that run.

With three of those away, Arsenal is the obvious candidate to take three points from, but you never know with Leeds, they always make things dramatic and pull off a shock somewhere – could it be today? Fingers crossed.
