Leeds fans will love Pablo Hernandez Instagram update
Departing Leeds United midfielder Pablo Hernandez has shared a brilliant image on his Instagram story as he bids farewell to the Whites.
The 36-year-old is a big fan favourite at Elland Road and is seen as one of the driving forces in the quest for promotion last season.
Despite his age, he’s worked tirelessly in Marcelo Bielsa’s system and on numerous occasions has looked like the sharpest player on the pitch.
His footballing brain is second to none as he seems to see and perceive things few others in England can.
Due to this, he’s got the love and adulation of all Leeds United fans and his recent update on his Instagram will certainly go a long way in reciprocating that affection.
He wrote ‘Home’ and shared an image of his swimming pool with the 19 written at the base of it – the same number he donned and made famous at Elland Road.
It pains us to know that we’ve seen the last of Pablo Hernandez in a Leeds jersey, but it had to happen eventually, although we would’ve liked it to last a little longer.
He joined the club in the 2016/17 season and took very little in proving just how talented a player he was. In his debut campaign at Elland Road, he scored six and provided eight assists in the league from a deeper midfield position and added to that tally the following year.
As he kept growing older, his body started to slow down and when Bielsa arrive, many thought it was the last we’ve seen of the Spaniard.
However, in Bielsa’s very first season he registered 12 goals and 12 assists in 41 league games – silencing all his critics. He was once again at the forefront of creating chances the year we secured promotion.
This Premier League season in many ways was like a victory-cum-farewell lap for the 36-year-old.
All we can do is, thank him for the memories and for getting us where we are today.
