Jose Enrique urges Liverpool to sign Raphinha

Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has urged the Reds to sign Leeds United attacker Raphinha this summer.

The Brazilian joined Leeds on deadline day last summer and because he wasn’t being extensively linked with the Whites, it came as bit of a shock when the club got the deal over the line.

However, since moving to Elland Road, Raphinha has hit the ground running and taken the Premier League by storm.

Often players coming from overseas take time to get accustomed to life in England, but the Leeds star has looked like he’s been playing for this Marcelo Bielsa side since the Argentine took over three years ago.

With it being transfer season, there’s no surprise that the best players are being linked with moves, and the same applies to Raphinha.

Recently, ESPN shared an update about him being flattered by Liverpool’s and Manchester United’s interest in him and now Enrique has taken that a step further on his Instagram account – urging the Reds to try getting this one over the line.

He said, “Hopefully we can sign him [Raphinha] it will be great addition for our squad. What do you think?

“I will go more for a player like Haaland or Mbappe but he is a lot more affordable. What you think Reds?”

Living in delusion

The fact that he thinks Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe would be joining Liverpool, tells you a lot about whether or not you should take him seriously.

Sure, Raphinha would be a great addition for Liverpool, but he’s had a near-perfect season at Leeds and why would he even consider leaving, given that the club have a plan to do better next season?

Bielsa is set to extend, Jack Harrison will be signing permanently, and we’re going to go back in the transfer market again to sign quality players like Raphinha.

Speaking to Football Insider earlier in the season, ex-Leeds striker Noel Whelan dubbed Raphinha as “sensational” when he produced a match-winning performance against Everton. He’s certainly lived up to the billing throughout this past season.

Oftentimes, ex players aren’t updated about day-to-day affairs at clubs and make such ridiculous claims. His post is surely not going to be age well and we’ll be there laughing at it once the transfer window shuts and Liverpool don’t sign Raphinha, Mbappe or Haaland.
