ESPN posts Raphinha update linking him to Man United & Liverpool

ESPN have shared Leeds United attacker Raphinha’s quotes of him talking about the reported interest shown in him by the top Premier League sides.

The Brazilian joined Leeds United on transfer deadline day last summer and has undoubtedly been one of the signings of the season.

He’s been a revelation for Marcelo Bielsa’s side and in his absence, the Whites had to look for other avenues to score goals and set up chances for the likes of Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison.

Due to his brilliant performances for the Whites, it’s not a surprise some of the top sides like Liverpool and Manchester United have shown an interest in securing his services.

Addressing those rumours, Raphinha told UOL (h/t ESPN), “It is difficult to define how I feel when I hear speculation about giant teams like Liverpool and Manchester United interested in signing me.

“Man, I grew up watching these teams on television. I saw Rooney, van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, but I also saw Gerrard as well as others, Henry, Deco, Lampard.”

ESPN added, “Sounds like Raphinha fancies a move to Liverpool or Man United”, a pretty shameless attempt to troll Leeds fans.

No he does not

It’s that time of the year again when publications on social media want to create rumours to spark unnecessary panic and arguments between fans.

We’ve had a good season so it’s obvious that they will expect our players to be linked with big clubs, and sharing quotes like these imply that the players are themselves keen on the move.

It’s unlikely that any player we want to keep at the club, bar Gjanni Alioski, would want to leave.

Bielsa has taken this club back to the Premier League and a ninth-place finish in our first season back in the top-flight.

This summer seems to be a huge one in terms of getting certain players over the line to once again aim to finish top half at the very least and maybe even try pushing for a Europa League or Conference League berth.
