Leeds want to sign yet another Man City talent after initial Mbete links - report

Leeds United have reportedly set their sights on another talented Manchester City youngster in the form of Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

According to the Daily Mail, the Whites are not only interested in defender Luke Mbete, but they are also keen to sign Wilson-Esbrand.

It is claimed that both players could leave the Premier League giants this month, with City worried about the prospect of losing some of their most talented youngsters.

Mbete was linked with a move to Elland Road earlier in the window, with The Athletic reporting that both Leeds and Juventus were circling.

Another potential star for the future

Wilson-Esbrand is a promising 18-year-old left-back who has been heavily involved in City’s U-18s side.

Back in March, he was part of the Man City squad that won the Premier League Cup, where they beat Stoke City 6-0.

The defender is comfortable playing on the left, as a central defender and in more advanced positions down the left flank, which would make him a valuable addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

Any move to sign either Mbete or Wilson-Esbrand would continue a clear strategic push from the club to keep on eye on the future.

The summer dealings that included bringing the likes of Sam Greenwood to the club show that there is going to be a pathway set out for these youngsters to make the first-team squad at Elland Road.

The same cannot be said for Manchester City, who with all their riches, have been unable to consistently promote youngsters from their impressive academy.
