Leeds ban fan after pitch invasion against Watford

Leeds United fans will have seen the viral video of the young fan invading the pitch after the 1-0 win over Watford earlier this month.

Well, it hasn’t ended well with the Whites handing down a ban to the father of the child who accepted responsibility for the incident.

Although it was harmless, Leeds met with the fan today and issued the ban which was said to have been “lenient.”

The fan has shared a statement on his personal Twitter account under the name “little pitch invader” warning others against it.

“Lots will have seen the video & tweet of my son running on the pitch at Elland Road v Watford,” they wrote. “I have met with club today as I allowed him to do this.

“I have accepted responsibility for this and warn others from doing this in the future as it can carry a 12-month ban. I have accepted my ban from Leeds who have been lenient with me.”

Lenient.

The fan shared in the comments of the thread on Twitter that his ban will run until Christmas, meaning he will miss the next couple of months.

Pictures remain of the incident but it looks as though the videos could have been taken down – whether that was advised by the club it is unknown.

It is said that 12 months is the maximum punishment a club can give just for a standard pitch invasion, but Leeds decided against that.

This was very harmless, and Jamie Shackleton even embraced the young fan as he ran on at full-time once the game had finished.

Responses on Twitter have mainly been negative with many questioning why the club decided to take this action.

We could have understood if trouble was caused, but none was and he was on and off the pitch before anything could happen.

A lesson has been learned today, and it is that nothing is too innocent should the rules be broken, this should act as a warning, we guess.
