Lee Johnson suggests one reason why Leeds form has nosedived, makes big claim about Bielsa
Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has suggested that Leeds United have been “unfortunate” to have not picked up as many wins as they should have in recent weeks.
Leeds are still second in the Championship table after going on a run that has seen them win just two of their last 11 league fixtures. However, their once healthy gap to third-place has now been reduced to nothing, with Fulham now level on points with the Yorkshire giants.
Bristol City are next up for the Whites with the two promotion hopefuls set to clash at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the match, Johnson has discussed Leeds’ form and claims that they have lacked a lot of luck in recent matches because there has been nothing wrong with their overall performances.
“Everyone is saying about how poorly Leeds are at the moment, and their form is,” said Johnson, as quoted by the Yorkshire Post. “But their games we’ve watched they’ve been excellent, they’ve just been unfortunate not to get the three points.”
Johnson also discussed Leeds manager Bielsa ahead of his side’s trip to West Yorkshire this weekend.
He, like many other managers who Bielsa has came up against in his time in England, has been full of praise for the Argentine.
“One of the best in the world,” the Robins boss added. “His style of play, his movements and rotations, and how they play with such energy, they’ve got real quality in the side as well, so it’s a big challenge for us.”
Bristol City are going to be a big test for Leeds on Saturday.
Johnson’s side will be on a high after their impressive 3-2 win over Derby this week while the Whites will no doubt be stewing over what was basically two dropped points at Brentford at Tuesday.
The Robins can move level on points with Leeds if they win at Elland Road this weekend.
Bielsa will need to ensure that will not happen to his side otherwise they will more than likely drop out of the automatic promotion spots.
