Kieran Maguire shares if Jean-Kevin Augustin £24.5m to impact Leeds United and San Francisco 49ers deal

The recent Jean-Kevin Augustin saga is reportedly unlikely to have an impact on San Francisco 49ers’ deal to take over Leeds United.

The Whites have been told to pay the French striker £24.5million as that’s a number calculated based on the wages he would receive had he permanently moved to Elland Road.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire was asked if this would have any ramifications on the NFL franchise’s involvement at the club.

He said on Twitter, “Should not be an issue. SF49 looking at long term issues.”

Good news

The last thing Leeds fans need is the mismanagement of three years ago to cost the club the opportunity to go to the next level.

The Whites appear to have peaked under Andrea Radrizzani’s ownership and if Marcelo Bielsa wasn’t given the tools to go to the next level, no manager possibly will be able to do a better job.

The Italian has come under scrutiny for a lot of things that have gone wrong on and off the pitch and it’s fair to say that a large chunk of the fanbase wants a change.

The 49ers will offer them that and while they have a deal in place to take over control by January 2024, it’s expected to happen a lot sooner.

Leeds United

Hopefully, the Whites can stay up under Javi Gracia this season and the new owners come in and do what they want with who’s at the helm.

If they’re putting in good money to the club, making a change behind the scenes to go to the next level, then they may be ambitious and go for a manager with the experience of challenging for and winning European trophies or from one of the top five leagues.
